Volunteer with the Jeffery Hale Community Partners

Become a Young & Empowered Ambassador!   This project aims to empower and involve young English-speaking adults from the Capitale-Nationale (Greater Québec City) region. We would like your input in this program to decide on relevant activities for young adults and help bring them to life.  This is a volunteer opportunity, and as a thank you, each Ambassador participating in this opportunity will get a $150 gift card.

Volunteers bring compassion, joy, and a strong sense of community to seniors, families, youth, and individuals with special needs.  Volunteers help improve access to essential services and break isolation for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.  Please note that most of our volunteer opportunities are during regular business hours (weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) due to the nature of the task and the needs of the clients who we assist. If you would like to help with community-led activities, Grocery Shopping & Errands and Friendly Visits, however, you can do so evenings and weekends if you prefer.

Contact the WE Volunteer Coordinator, Elise Holloway, by email or phone at 418-684-5333, ext. 11948 to find out more about our volunteering opportunities.

Volunteer in the community with Voice of English-speaking Québec

Our community partner the Voice of English-speaking Québec (VEQ) is dedicated to helping newcomers adjust to life in the Greater Québec City region. Furthermore, VEQ helps individuals participate in community life in the Quebec City region, in both French and English.

Volunteer with Canadian Parents for French

Are you passionate about supporting French language learning in your community? Join the amazing team of volunteers at Canadian Parents for French (CPF) and help them bring exciting opportunities to use and practise French to life! Whether you’re a student, parent, or community member, your time and energy can make a big difference by promoting bilingualism and creating fun, accessible programs for French Second Language (FSL) learners. Volunteering is flexible, rewarding, and a great way to gain experience while supporting an important cause.

Volunteer with the Morrin Centre

Over the years, the Morrin Centre team have successfully completed many projects thanks to the assistance, dedication, and know-how of their volunteers.  New and recurring activities offer volunteers the opportunity to develop their passions and to meet members of the community.  Your involvement as a volunteer can vary, ranging from helping with a single “one-off” event, to a recurring task that supports their regular activities, to a specific project.

Volunteer with Québec City Reading Council (QCRC)

QCRC’s programs would not be the same without the contributions of community volunteers.  If you would like to be a volunteer at QCRC, please contact them at 418-681-1258 or email info@qcrc.org.  Their volunteer roles include:
  • Tutors: English, math, technology.  One-on-one or group class experience available.
  • Internships: Available upon request for a period of 3-4 months.  For those interested in learning more about the not-for-profit community sector, we offer volunteer placements at our office.  Volunteers gain experience with how QCRC plans programmes, events and partnership activities. The placement schedule is set to suit the volunteer’s availability.

Volunteer with the Girl Guides

A local English-speaking Girl Guide unit meets on Tuesday evenings in Sillery.  Their opportunities include:

  • A female volunteer aged 18+ who would like to give their time every Tuesday evening working with their youth at the meetings (or even a commitment of every second week).
  • A volunteer who wants to be a part time leader who mostly wants to get outdoors with the youth and have fun camping for a weekend (but doesn’t want to commit to weekly meetings).
  • A volunteer who could be treasurer all year. This role could be a male or a female.
  • A volunteer who could help with cookies twice a year. This role could be a male or female.

If you are interested in volunteering with the Girl Guides, you can email 1quebecguides@gmail.com or contact Verity, Young & Empowered Program Coordinator, by email or phone at 418-684-5333, ext. 11932. to be put in contact.
