JH Partners promotes autonomy, connection and healthy aging for English speaking seniors in Greater Québec City. This focus extends to McGreevy Manor, where we aim to foster a “Community of Care” in partnership with the Holland Community Housing Corporation (HCHC) by providing on‑site activities and services.
Two JH Partners’ staff members are dedicated to wellbeing of the tenants of McGreevy Manor:
- Claire Quenville, our full‑time Activities Coordinator at McGreevy Manor.
- Nectaria Skokos, our Coordinator of Community Development and Vitality who provides part‑time managerial support to the Manor and to the independent associations involved in its operation.

Coordination of our Activities at McGreevy Manor
To help ensure that tenants’ needs are met, JH Partners created the position of McGreevy Manor Activities Coordinator in 2021. We established this on-site role to promote social connection, healthy living and overall well-being among tenants.
As the full-time coordinator, Claire Quenville develops programming that reflects tenants’ interests and fosters a vibrant, welcoming sense of community. Her presence also includes:
- Providing information and making referrals depending on the needs.
- Facilitating and organizing various healthy living and overall well-being activities.
- Promoting social connection and participation among tenants.

Managerial support to McGreevy Manor
Nectaria Skokos, Coordinator of Community Development and Vitality, helps ensure the smooth running of McGreevy Manor. She supports tenants individually when needed, handles requests to visit apartments and manages the reception of applications from anyone interested in becoming tenants.
Nectaria also offers her expertise to the volunteer tenants’ committee and collaborates closely with the following independent organizations in charge of McGreevy Manor:
- Holland Community Housing Corporation (HCHC) — A corporation registered with the REQ since 2002. Its volunteer board of directors oversees tenant selection criteria and the quality of life at McGreevy Manor.
- Action‑Habitation — A Québec City‑based non‑profit whose mission is to improve living conditions by developing and maintaining community and cooperative housing.

A bit of history about the Manor and John H.C. McGreevy
McGreevy Manor emerged in the early 2000s from community‑driven planning initiated by Jeffery Hale Community Partners (formerly known as Holland Centre). As part of its long‑standing mission to improve services and living conditions for English‑speaking seniors, JH Partners led the development of innovative senior‑focused initiatives — including the creation of McGreevy Manor as an adapted living residence for autonomous older adults.
John H. C. McGreevy (1913–2004) was a respected Québec City community leader known for his decades of volunteer service across many English‑speaking institutions, including Saint Brigid’s Home, the Jeffery Hale Hospital, the Jeffery Hale Foundation, the Ladies’ Protestant Home, and the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec and its Morrin Centre. He also served as a Lieutenant with the Royal Rifles of Canada and spent four years as a prisoner of war following the Battle of Hong Kong.
In recognition of his extraordinary civic contribution, John H.C. McGreevy was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1989. He played an important role in establishing a subsidized seniors’ residence that was later named McGreevy Manor in his honour. His legacy continues to influence community life and services for the English-speaking population in the Québec City region.
